Patty Lyons is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and the author of the bestselling Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks, which has sold over 150,000 copies. Her forthcoming book, Knitting ER, comes out this fall 2026.
Patty is best known for teaching the “why” of knitting, not just the “how,” in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter.” You can take classes with Patty at her online Knitting School, as well as at local guilds, shops & knitting shows around the country, as well as at Patty’s own retreats.

Patty Lyons is an excellent teacher and extremely knowledgeable about knitting. She loves to teach and wants every knitter to succeed. The class was a blast; watching demonstrations on a screen of Patty knitting made visibility so much easier as we could see the intricacies of creating each stitch. In addition she also helped each student individually with demos and explanations. I never had to worry if I was doing the technique wrong because she verified that each student fully understood before moving on.
