Knit for a Cause: 6 Ways Knitters Can Give

As you know, our lives have changed quite drastically recently, and the best and most effective thing we can do to play our part in the situation is to stay at home. And trust me, I know it’s hard, especially given just how social knitting can be. There are some ways you can stay productive and knit some positive feels into your project, though.

I know how much our community loves giving back to those in need, so if you’d like to give to others, I’ve put together this list of organizations that would gladly accept your knitting donations. Let’s put those needles to work! Every small act of goodwill can make a huge difference.

Here are 6 ways you can donate projects and/or money to make a difference as a knitter, to comfort people, and to show our fellow people that they are not alone:

01 Project Linus

Project Linus, a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets with love and a sense of security to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. You can find a local chapter to donate blankets and/or other needed materials by visiting their website. Learn more »

02 Magic Yarn Project

To bring magic into the lives of children battling cancer, and to inspire volunteerism to make a difference, The Magic Yarn Project organizes creative yarn wigs to provide comfy, soft, and warm headwears for little cancer fighters all over the world. Help them spread the joy and keep the magic rolling. Learn more »

03 Soldiers’ Angels

Also, If you have extra yarn or fleece, they can put it to good use! Check more details on their website. Learn more »

05 Knitted Knockers

06 Patty’s Charity Patterns

Besides these amazing organizations I’ve listed above, you can also join my CHARITY PATTERN event to support specific organizations that give back to communities in need. Each week, I will name a very wonderful charity and offer a promo code for a $2 pattern and 100% of those proceeds will go to the selected charity. A new pattern will be announced each Tuesday and Friday on my social media. You can follow my Instagram to get the latest information!

So far we have raise $450 for One Fair Wage, $400 for Get Us PPE, and $400 for Feeding America. Let’s keep up the giving!
